The client’s brief for the 1½ storey house was based on an existing house type in Whalsay.  The layout was developed to suit the client’s requirement for accommodation and maximise views to the North West.  The design ensures comfortable use of internal space within an overall floor reduced from the existing house type.  External materials are a mixture of dry dash harl and painted horizontal cladding.
