New House, Twatt, Bixter

Twatt, Bixter

A contemporary home with traditional features for a young family in the small settlement of Twatt in Bixter. The clients were keen to create a spacious, light and airy home which was in keeping with its rural surroundings and traditional properties nearby. The form of the proposed dwelling house is intended to replicate a two storey traditional house with a single storey byre on the gable. The dark grey ‘slate-like’ roof tile and off-white smooth render are materials and colours with a traditional appearance. The addition of the horizontal cladding provides a touch of subtle colouring.  It’s location in the heart of a family croft within the settlement of Twatt will provide our clients with the ideal base to carry out their daily crofting operations.
